Clifton Robinson will be taking over as Chief Executive of the Housing Diversity Network from Samantha Miller in January 2010. Samantha will be working alongside Clifton until March when she will be moving on to pursue personal interests.
Clifton began his housing career in London in the early 1980’s with Thames Valley Housing Society before moving to Wales where he spent 5 years working as Housing Manager before moving to another Welsh housing association where he spent 10 years as Housing Director. Since 2003, Clifton has focused more on equalities work as trainer and consultant setting up the Cymru Equality and Diversity Consortium and being appointed to the Statutory Wales Committee of the Equality and Human Rights Commission in 2007. In addition, he has been a member of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Equalities Experts Panel working on the current National Housing Strategy, a member of Mind Cymru’s management committee since 2003 and was appointed in 2008 as an independent Board member of Cartrefi Conwy, the first housing stock transfer housing association in North Wales. Clifton’s other great interest is criminal justice and he has been chair of the North Wales Probation Board since 2004. Clifton will be attending some of the mentoring classes and the practitioner group meetings over the next couple of months so you should be able to have a chance to meet him. If, however, you would like to arrange a more formal meeting please email Clifton@housingdiversitynetwork.co.uk from 5th January 2010 and he will be pleased to arrange convenient time.
