Asiana
Asiana is a leading Asian magazine for the Asian woman in the UK. As well as lifestyle related content, the magazine covers serious issues such as domestic violence and child abuse with the aim of raising the profile of these issues within the Asian community.

Black Britain
This website aims to be the premium portal for black people living in the UK. It is trying to promote procurement from BME businesses and has a Business Directory. It also offers recruitment advertising online. Costs are from £575 upwards for a 4 week advert – (tel. 0207 249 5656)

Black Information Link
Run by the 1990 Trust. Contains current information on a whole range of issues relevant to BME communities. Includes a jobs section. Free membership but need to register. Blink members can publish information and advertise information about events, job vacancies, and publish articles etc on the site

Website for the British Chinese community

Irish in Britain
Aims to be a community site for Irish people living in Britain. Contains news articles as well as sections on music, sport, travel and a range of discussion groups. There is also has a web directory of Irish-interest sites.

A website celebrating Asian life in the UK

Salaam
Muslim information resources. Includes a database of mosques across the UK with full postal addresses. Also details events, including key festival dates and has links to other sites.

Discrimination & Harassment

Kirklees Hate Incidents Website
This site allows people living within the Kirklees local authority area to report hate crimes (both homophobic and race incidents) online. It also contains contact details for all reporting centres in the area, various support materials and details of other ways to report incidents including by post and by a Freephone number.

Race Action Net
Source of information and good practice on tackling racial harassment. Membership only website

Stop Discrimination
The European Commission’s new website on anti-discrimination. The website aims to be a source of information on the "For Diversity. Against Discrimination" campaign and includes a section entitled ‘Directives at a Glance’

Stop Hate Uk
Stop Hate UK is a unique charity, raising awareness of all types of hate crime and supporting the individuals and communities that are affected by it. We are based in Leeds and work with members of the local community there, and we also support people anywhere in the UK who experience hate crime through our 24-hour helpline, the Stop Hate Line.

Acas stands for Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service. Its aim is to improve organisations and working life through better employment relations. It promotes best practice in the workplace and their website contains advice and services.

Refugee Council
National centre for refugee information and statistics. The council's training and employment section offers asylum seekers and refugees the opportunity to undertake a work placement for a period of 1 month to 7 months with a British employer. The Equality and Human Rights Commission
The Equality and Human Rights Commission champions equality and human rights for all, working to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect human rights and to build good relations, ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in society.

Families, Friends & Travellers
FFT provides a wide range of services to all Travellers nation wide - whether traditional or new, settled or on the road. Its activities include formal advice, information and training. Their website incorporates loads of useful information including a 'Beginners Guide to Gypsies & Travellers' and information relating specifically to housing needs.

Federation of Black Housing Organisations
FBHO is a membership body working with black and minority ethnic housing associations, individuals and key partners to promote a diverse, innovative and dynamic social housing sector. They undertake campaigning and research work and publish 'Black Housing'.

Federation of Irish Societies
The Federation of Irish Societies (FIS) is a national umbrella organisation established in 1973, which draws together Irish clubs and societies in Britain. It promotes the interests of Irish people through community care, education, culture and arts, youth and sports activities and information provision. FIS is non-politically aligned and non-sectarian. It has some 100 affiliates throughout Britain. The website includes contact information for Irish organisations across England, Scotland and Wales.

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) is the professional body for people working in housing. Their purpose is to maximise the contribution that housing professionals make to the well being of communities.

Federation of Black Housing Organsations

The Housing Forum
The Housing Forum was established to implement the theme of ‘rethinking construction’ and is supported by the DTI, the Housing Corporation and by membership subscriptions. The Forum aims to bring together parties involved in the house building and supply chain who are committed and ready to become part of ‘a movement for change and innovation’ in the construction industry.

The UK Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology
The UKRC works to tackle the low numbers of women working in science, engineering and technology, providing a central source of expertise, data and information on women in SET in the UK, helping businesses and organisations to encourage more women to enter these fields and supporting women themselves to further their careers.

Age Concern
The UK's largest charity working on behalf of older people.

Age Positive
Part of the Department for Work and Pensions, the Age Positive campaign promotes the benefits of employing a mixed-age workforce. Their website offers good practice guides, advice on tackling ageism, and provides information for employers on the Age Regulations. It also provides case studies of organisations adopting age-neutral employment policies.

Agebusters
Agebusters is designed to be an invaluable first port-of-call for anyone wishing to know about the UK’s Age Discrimination Regulations. Agebusters has been designed and created by TAEN – the Age and Employment Network. The site has been funded by the Department of Trade and Industry as part of its ‘age capacity building’ project.

Campaign Against Age Discrimination in Employment
CAADE (The Campaign Against Age Discrimination in Employment) was founded to fight for legislation to ban age discrimination. CAADE offers an ‘Age Audit’ service to help employers comply with the new Age Regulations.

Disability Jobsite
An on-line recruitment service for employers actively looking to recruit people with a disability.

Disabled Living Foundation
The DLF is the leading UK disability charity providing advice and information on equipment for independent living. Their website has over 40 general information fact sheets to download and also provides links to manufacturers and suppliers web sites

Employers Forum on Disability
The Employers' Forum on Disability is the world's leading employers' organisation focused on disability as it affects business. Their aim is to make it easier to recruit and retain disabled employees and to serve disabled customers. Website includes list of useful publications to download and order

Habinteg Disability Equality Centre
Information for housing providers on developing a Disability Equality Scheme together with case studies, statistical information, best practice examples and practical information for front-line staff.

Office for Disability
This website contains guidance about portraying disabled people in communications materials. It includes an extensive media gallery, containing examples of positive portrayals of disabled people across a range of media and case studies and articles about disability.

Interfaith Network for the UK

North of England Refugee Service
The North of England Refugee Service is an independent and charitable organisation which exists to meet the needs and promote the interests of asylum seekers and refugees who have arrived or have settled in the North of England.
