Want to make a real difference to people facing homelessness?
We have an exciting opportunity for two Emergency Accommodation & Move-On Support Officers to join our Housing Options Team on a fixed-term basis for two years, funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
In this rewarding role, you will work directly with households living in bed and breakfast or hotel accommodation, helping them move into suitable, sustainable housing as quickly as possible. You'll provide practical advice and support, helping customers understand their housing options, access services and overcome barriers to securing longer-term accommodation.
What you'll be doing
Supporting households to move on from emergency accommodation into settled housing.
Providing advice and guidance on housing options.
Identifying and securing suitable housing opportunities, including private rented accommodation.
Working with partner organisations to connect customers with support services such as debt advice, budgeting, employment and digital inclusion support.
Assessing the safety and suitability of emergency accommodation and resolving any issues identified.
Identifying safeguarding concerns and making appropriate referrals.
About you
We're looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting vulnerable people and building positive relationships.
Understands housing options, homelessness legislation and the challenges faced by households in temporary accommodation.
Can confidently provide advice, guidance and practical support.
Has excellent communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
Is organised, able to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
Has experience of safeguarding and risk management.
Has access to a car for business use.
