Summary:
We are looking for a Communications Manager to join our small and busy communications team at the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). This role will be responsible for leading RSH’s engagement with the media and contribute to wider communications and engagement work within the team. This is a permanent position, based in our Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham or Bristol offices.

Job Description:
In this role you will plan, deliver and evaluate external communications activity, including content relating to RSH’s busy schedule of publications and announcements. You will also manage media enquiries and build relationships with the media.

You will help RSH to horizon scan for key issues in the social housing sector and maintain our communications grid. You will also use your insight and experience to provide expert communications advice to senior leaders, as well as to colleagues across the organisation.

Responsibilities:
As the successful candidate, you will have skilled technical knowledge as well as an in-depth understanding of media relations, strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.

You should have a skilled technical knowledge of media relations and strategic communications, including planning, delivery and evaluation. You should also have a broad knowledge and understanding of the range of communications disciplines (including events, internal communications and digital / social media).

You will have experience of leading media relations in a regulatory or public sector environment, preferably with experience of working with national, trade and local media, as well as experience of providing strategic communications advice to senior leaders and at all levels of an organisation, with the ability to build and maintain key relationships.

Location
We operate a hybrid model of working with a mix of office and home working.

This role can be based out of any of RSH’s core offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. Our Manchester office will be relocating during 2024/25, however will remain within the city centre.

We offer a range of flexible working arrangements and staff can benefit from working from home for part of their hours. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, with some roles also involving onsite visits to social housing providers.

Interviews
Interviews are expected to take place during the w/c 20 May 2024. They will be held via Microsoft Teams.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
