Head of Asset Strategy

We are looking for a Head of Asset Strategy to take the lead in shaping how we manage and invest in our homes. Driving the Active Asset Management Strategy and our Yorkshire Housing Homes Standard, this role ensures our existing homes are future-proofed through smart planning and top-quality data.

Working closely with the Director of Assets & Sustainability, you’ll oversee key areas like surveying, programme planning, financial forecasting, and , leading teams to make sure our homes stay efficient, sustainable, and ready for whatever comes next.

What will you be doing?
As our Head of Asset Strategy you’ll be leading our approach to asset management, overseeing key areas including programme planning, asset intelligence, and sustainability. As part of the Assets & Sustainability Leadership Team, you’ll provide clear direction, foster innovation, and ensure investment decisions are backed by robust data.

You’ll drive the delivery of Yorkshire Housing’s Asset Management Strategy, shaping future plans and implementing smart technology to enhance our portfolio. Managing a £10m+ budget, you’ll oversee capital investment, ensuring our homes meet the Decent Homes Standard and support our Roadmap to Net Zero.

Reporting into the Director of Assets & Sustainability and leading a team, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our homes remain efficient, sustainable, and future-proof. This is an agile homeworking role, but travel across Yorkshire (God’s own country!) will be required as and when the business needs.

Leading a data-driven team, you’ll develop asset intelligence reports, guide investment strategies, and work closely with senior stakeholders to maintain a sustainable, customer-focused housing portfolio. Who are we looking for?
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring strategic leadership experience in asset management within a large property portfolio. You’ll have a track record of successfully managing asset stock and investment programs of similar value and scope, as well as overseeing and monitoring significant capital budgets. Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as you’ll work closely with senior leaders to shape policies and procedures, ensuring our asset strategy remains forward-thinking and impactful.

We’re also looking for knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Undertaking analysis of data and formulating strategy on housing stock
  • Managing a team in the planning or delivery of capital investment or retrofit
  • Working with Housing Sector Asset Management systems alongside an understanding of a number of underlying asset management principles
  • Delivering excellent customer service including an ability to deal with difficult customers well
  • Maintaining and developing successful relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Knowledge of asset management standards such as ISO 55001, legislation and regulatory framework

    We’re also looking for people who bring:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively in written format; producing reports to Directors or the Executive team as required
  • An analytical and methodical approach and the ability to work with large volumes of information and complex data
  • An ability to identify opportunities for positive change and deliver improvements
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for business purposes.

    This a full-time permanent role with a salary of £79,298.84 per annum, for a 35 hour week plus 26 days annual leave (rising annually to 31 days) plus Bank Holidays.
