The role:

We’re looking for an experienced and customer-focused Damp & Mould Repairs Manager to lead Brighter Places’ approach to damp and mould repairs. In this role, you’ll drive service excellence by proactively managing complex cases, championing customer needs, and ensuring high standards of delivery across all aspects of our damp and mould response.

We offer hybrid working but there is an expectation that you attend the office three days a week, and additionally as needed.

Although not an exhaustive list, key responsibilities include:

  • Provide visible leadership to the Damp & Mould team, fostering a positive, customer-focused culture aligned with Brighter Places’ values.

  • Manage contractor performance, ensuring high-quality, value-for-money D&M solutions through effective contract oversight and regular inspections.

  • Use customer feedback, data, and KPIs to inform decisions, implement improvements, and ensure services meet performance targets and compliance standards.

  • Work closely with Coordinators, Repairs, and Planned Works teams to manage live cases, streamline workflows, and deliver timely, effective solutions.

  • Oversee the D&M budget, support procurement processes, and ensure financial accountability and reporting.

  • Take ownership of disrepair claims and ensure all statutory obligations and health and safety responsibilities are met, including conducting surveys when required.

    For this role we are looking for individuals who have:

  • A higher education qualification and/or professional certification in construction, maintenance, or building-related fields.
  • Significant experience in property management, including damp and mould, responsive and planned maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of building pathology, asbestos management, CDM regulations, and safe systems of work
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulatory frameworks in affordable housing asset management.
  • The ability to manage complex contracts and projects effectively, including risk identification, health and safety compliance, and financial forecasting
  • A confident, dynamic and supportive team leader and team player
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills

    The successful candidate must hold a valid driver’s license and/or the ability to travel independently to visit customers and properties. Access to pool cars subject to availability. A basic DBS check will be obtained upon successful appointment of this role.
