Maternity Cover – 12 months, Full Time (Salford / Hybrid Working)

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Governance & Policy Officer for a position which plays a key role in supporting the delivery of first-class Governance arrangements within Salix Homes.
The Governance and Policy Officer, as part of the Governance Team will support the Board, its delegated committees and the Executive Team to ensure that the high standards of governance at Salix Homes are maintained and that appropriate arrangements are in place to ensure that the Salix Homes Group complies with the Code of Governance. They will also support senior officers across the business in the timely review and updating of key corporate policies and procedures to reflect legal and regulatory requirements.
The Governance & Policy Officer is a key role - helping to maintain and support the smooth running of key corporate functions.

The role - What I’ll be doing

  • Working with the Governance Manager and Executive Team in the preparation and timely circulation of Board and Committee meeting packs.

  • Servicing Board and Committee meetings - including the setting up of meetings (in person and virtual), minute taking and following up on tracking the completion of actions arising from meeting minutes.

  • In conjunction with the Governance Manager, liaising with Members re: training and development opportunities.

  • Supporting the Governance Manager in the annual appraisal of Board and committee members.

  • Being the first point of contact for board and committee members for all housekeeping and administrative support queries.

  • Supporting the Governance Manager in annual updating governance related policies, procedures and the Governance Framework.

  • Maintaining the policy review schedule and liaising with colleagues/ policy owners to ensure that all policies are updated and incorporate any key legislative changes.

  • Support with the co-ordination of specific Governance projects as directed by the Governance Manager by undertaking research, benchmarking or best practice reviews, keeping abreast of social, political and economic developments and providing recommendations and/or solutions to change which could impact on Salix’s essential governance and compliance frameworks.

  • This role will also oversee and maintain Salix Homes’ central policy and procedure library, liaising with Senior Managers to ensure that policies are reviewed and updated as required.

  • The role holder will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills l skills with colleagues across the business including board and committee members (NEDs)

  • The role holder will have the ability to challenge and interpret information.

  • The role holder will provide reliable and informed advice and guidance to colleagues on the delivery of excellent Governance services.

  • Highly organised, efficient and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.

  • The role holder will need to be resilient, focussed and knowledgeable regarding Governance structures and key corporate functions.

  • Annual Salary of between £33,024 - £34,834 dependant on experience
