Summary:
We are looking for a number of Research Analysts to join our Economics and Consumer Analysis team in key roles at the Regulator of Social Housing.

The Economics and Consumer Analysis Team is a small team within the Business Intelligence function that plays a leading role in understanding sector trends and the emerging risks to social housing providers. It supports regulation of both the economic and consumer standards.

Since the 1st April our remit has been extended giving us additional powers and responsibilities around the importance of safe, decent homes for social housing tenants and of social housing landlords being transparent and accountable to their tenants.  As a result, this is a great time to join us and help us shape the organisation.

Job Description:
As a Research Analyst, you will work collaboratively to produce quantitative and qualitative analysis, enabling the regulator to develop and communicate a strong understanding of sector risks and strategic issues, as well as informing our regulatory approach as it continues to evolve in light of changes to the policy and operating environment. This role will deliver analysis to support regulation of the full range of the regulator’s standards, with opportunities to work in projects that cover both economic and consumer regulation.

You will work as part of a small team to deliver an analytical programme focused on strategic issues and risks to the social housing sector that will inform regulators, providers and other stakeholders including central government.  Your projects will include in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis on market trends and sector risks, for example covering market structures, building safety, new supply of housing, tenant satisfaction, rents and service charges, providers’ risk management and the condition of existing stock. Analytical results are communicated both in written form and as presentations to a range of internal and external audiences. This may include contributing to regulatory publications including the Sector Risk Profile and accredited official statistics.

Responsibilities:
As our successful candidate, you will have experience of carrying out high quality research and analysis, including analysing data, interpreting evidence and communicating your findings.  You should have good knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques, particularly with MS Excel.

You will have strong and clear report writing and communication skills, covering both quantitative and qualitative information and will be able to work to tight timescales and deadlines.  Any knowledge of social housing regulation, regulatory policy or national housing policy would be advantageous.

Location
We operate a hybrid model of working with a mix of office and home working.

This role can be based out of any of RSH’s core offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. We offer a range of flexible working arrangements and staff can benefit from working from home for part of their hours. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, with some roles also involving onsite visits to social housing providers.

Interviews
Interviews are expected to take place in mid-November and will be held via Microsoft Teams.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
