Job Title
Board Chair
Organisation
Accent
Job Description

Providing homes and services to over 41,000 customers across the country, Accent is a national organisation with a community focus. We believe that helping to solve the housing crisis will provide people with stability, a foundation for better living and contribute to the nation's wider objectives for local and national growth. We are proud of the work we do giving people access to safe, sustainable affordable housing that is the foundation for a good quality of life.

Our Board Chair is a vitally important leadership role in the organisation. They will work closely with the leadership team and other board members to create a culture of collaboration and challenge - drawing on the expertise and experience of a diverse group to deliver our vision and objectives. Good governance will be central to achieving this - ensuring that we ask the right questions, hold ourselves to account and set high expectations to work towards.

It is a role that will suit someone who already has considerable Board experience (some of which may have involved chairing meetings) and a practical appreciation of operating in a sector where regulation and compliance is paramount. Knowledge of the housing sector will of course be relevant, but we are also open to people from other sectors who can offer a different perspective on our work. We value diversity of experience, insight, and perspectives, so welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

The ability to foster positive, professional relationships with the Chief Executive and other organisational leaders will be vital - enabling you to question, listen, challenge, and collaborate. You will promote a culture that welcomes scrutiny and values the different perspectives and insight that others can bring to key decisions.

Highly developed leadership skills and a strategic perspective will be vital, and a naturally engaging communication style will ensure you can foster positive relationships at all levels. We place a real emphasis on listening to our customers, so that we better understand their needs and priorities and can design our services accordingly - so you should be a committed advocate for the customer voice.

It is a time of significant and often complex change in our sector, as we respond to changing customer needs and growing demands around compliance and regulations. This is an opportunity to take on a leadership role where your contribution will make a real difference - driving innovation, delivering our vision, and enhancing people's quality of life.
