Riverside have an exciting new opportunity for a Support Worker, working full time, on a permanent basis. Who you’ll be helping Willow Walk are a specialist support centre for homeless people, dedicated to those who have experienced rough sleeping and long term homelessness. Our support network and accommodation provides a stable, safe and motivational atmosphere for our customers to make and sustain positive change. Plan and deliver a range of personalised support to customers, working with individuals and empowering them to achieve their goals and aspirations. Contribute to the day-to-day delivery of the service undertaking a range of administrative tasks and customer service responsibilities. Day to day Your usual responsibilities as a Willow Walk Support Worker will include: • Conduct regular planned reviews of support and risk, or following an incident/significant change in a customer’s circumstances to ensure the support plan and risk assessments remain relevant. • Resolve difficult and challenging situations in a sensitive and informed way, balancing the needs of the individual with responsibilities for the safety of the service. • Clean and prepare rooms as appropriate. • Assist customers with day-to-day support and tenancy-related matters. • Identify and promote opportunities for employment, education and training and support customers to remove barriers to accessing these opportunities. • Signpost customers to appropriate external support services, including interventions such as food banks and other community resources. You demonstrate a caring, flexible and non-judgemental approach and have excellent verbal and written communication skills with individuals from a variety of different backgrounds. You have an understanding of the barriers faced by vulnerable customer groups and experience working with individuals with complex needs as well as from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. You are experienced in delivering structured support and risk management in a supported environment. You are not only able to work independently and use own initiative but within a multi-disciplinary team. You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programmes and comfortable with learning additional company specific systems where required. While by no means compulsory, it would be to your advantage if you have knowledge of the current benefit systems, housing regulations and how these impact locally as well as psychologically informed approaches to support.
