Join our dynamic team as an Apprentice Finance Assistant, where you will gain practical experience and develop valuable skills, whilst working towards a finance qualification.

Successful candidates will be expected to travel to their assigned college, training provider or workplace as required.

What Will You Be Doing?

• Be the first point of contact for both internal and external suppliers and customers (by telephone and in person) to resolve queries. ensuring resolution in an accurate and timely manner.


• Process and reconcile purchase and debtor invoices in SAP, ensuring accuracy, timely input, and compliance with VAT and tax regulations.


• Identify and manage sub-contractor invoices, applying the correct tax treatment in line with HMRC requirements.


• Match purchase orders to invoices, resolving discrepancies by liaising with suppliers and Stockport Homes staff.


• Maintain accurate supplier and customer records, including setting up details, carrying out fraud checks, and handling petty cash transactions.


• Commit to a qualification and complete all coursework and assessments.


• Take part in ongoing training and development opportunities.

Applicants must have a minimum of four GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English.

Please note: For apprentices aged 19 and over at the start of their apprenticeship, English and Maths qualifications are no longer a mandatory requirement in England. However, a basic assessment will still be required to ensure suitability for the course.

Applicants must not already hold the same or a higher level of qualification in the same subject area.

Assessment Day 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day to further evaluate their skills and suitability for the apprenticeship on Friday 11th July 2025.

College or Training Provider

All our apprentices are enrolled with colleges or recommended training providers who have been approved by our Learning and Development Team.

Your Training Plan

You will receive both on-the-job and off-the-job training over the course of your Apprenticeship, following a detailed induction and training plan. Upon successful completion, you will achieve a recognised qualification.
