Coaching is not only an effective way for organisations to develop their people but also, at an organisational level, coaching contributes to a culture that is defined by active listening, constructive questioning, individual empowerment, the building of rapport and an emphasis on holding real two-way conversations.

HDN’s Coaching Skills for Managers programme can help you effectively embed a coaching culture into your organisation by equipping those with line management responsibility with practical tools to support their teams in a positive, constructive way.

Over the course of a full day and half-day follow-up session, participants will cover a range of key skills such as questioning, giving feedback, listening, reframing, and emotional intelligence, along with exploring different coaching models. The programme includes a StrengthScope 360 assessment for each participant, and a one-to-one session to explore the results of this.

If this is the first time you are introducing coaching to your managers, we can also run a short ‘launch’ session ahead of the course.

Jane Atherton

Jane Atherton is an Organisational Development specialist with over 20 years’ experience in People, Culture and Organisational Development.

Jane has worked at a senior level in OD and HR teams in Housing Associations for many years. She was the Director of People and Risk at New Charter Group until 2018; helping the organisation to consistently achieve top ten positions in the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to Work For and achieve ‘three-star’ Best Companies status for Extraordinary levels of employee engagement. During her time spent with New Charter, she introduced a coaching culture and the company achieved Investors in People Gold accreditation; hitting all 196 criteria requirements.

Jane is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, a qualified coach, coach supervisor and trainer. She is a board member of Women in Social Housing - Yorkshire and Humber region and until November 2020, she was Chair of Ashton Pioneer Homes in Tameside, Greater Manchester.
