Introduction to Anti-Racism for Boards and Senior Leaders

“In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.” – Angela Davis

This half or full-day workshop provides boards and senior leaders with space away from the organisation, to build their understanding of racism on individual and institutional levels, and how to move from passivity to active anti-racism in both.

Participants will:

Gain an understanding of a (brief) history of race, racism, and systemic disadvantage.
Use a sociological model to understand how discriminatory beliefs and systems replicate themselves to uphold the status quo.
Gain an understanding of the concepts of white privilege, white supremacy, and white saviourism.
Explore allyship, accompliceship, and using your position to leverage change.
Discuss how the topics covered might be experienced within your organisation.
Establish where your organisation currently is regarding anti-racism, agree where you would like to be going, and outline how you will start the journey.
Leave with more confidence to have the necessary conversations and ensure action is taken forward within the organisation.
